FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

  • WHAT IS A SPRAY TAN?
Spray tanning is a form of sunless tanning where a fine mist is sprayed on your body. The active ingredient in spray tans is an additive called dihydroxyacetone, or DHA for short. DHA is a sugar compound that reacts with the proteins found in the cells that make up the outer layer of your skin, creating an adherent pigment that leads to the bronze/tan color. The more DHA that you apply to your skin when you spray tan, the darker your skin becomes. Because DHA only affects the topmost skin layer, a spray tan is temporary.
  • HOW LONG WILL MY SPRAY LAST?
Both the original and rapid tan with proper care should last a minimum of 5 days. Depending on the extent of your post-tan care, the tan can last up to 10 days.
  • WHAT DO I WEAR DURING MY SPRAY TAN?
Female clients are free to tan in whatever they feel is comfortable...swimsuit, undergarments, in the nude. Male clients are required to wear an undergarment/swimsuit. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • CAN I GET A SPRAY TAN IF I AM PREGNANT?
Rocky Top Tan Co cares about the health of their clients and little ones. That is why we do require a letter of approval from your doctor if you would like to get a spray tan while pregnant.
  • CAN I GET A SPRAY TAN IF I HAVE SKIN CONDITIONS SUCH AS ECZEMA, PORT-WINE STAIN, KERATOSIS POLARIS, STRAWBERRY PORES, RASHES, ETC?
Rocky Top Tan Co encourages you to speak to your doctor prior to spray tanning. Some skin conditions can affect spray tan development. We do however provide "test tan swatches" on your body if you do have a skin condition and are concerned with development.
